Carolin Röckelein is a filmmaker and visual artist with a focus on visual anthropology, creative documentary and interdisciplinary art.
She studied visual communication (Dipl.) with Johannes Conen, who was the scenographer of Karlheinz Stockhausen and became one of her most important mentors.
He was the key person to open and combine the universe of moving images, space, stage, storytelling and music.
Later she studied visual anthropology (MA) to broaden her understanding of foreign cultures.
Her documentaries were shown on arte, ZDF/ 3Sat and in various festivals (DOK Leipzig) and arthouse cinemas; her stage videos in different theaters and operas ("Madame Butterfly" - Landestheater Linz, „Innocence" - Staatstheater Braunschweig), and her video installations in art galleries and festivals in Germany and France (Centre Culturel Saint Cyprien Toulouse, International feature conference WDR Köln, Promenades photographiques de Vendôme).
She lives and works in Berlin as an artist, editor, storyteller and cinematographer, often in close collaboration with other musicians, photographers, theatre makers or writers.
